St Mary’s Thistle, also known as Milk Thistle, has a rich therapeutic history spanning over 2000 years. Traditionally, it has been used to treat liver and gallbladder disorders, protect the liver from toxins, act as an antioxidant and antiviral, and boost immunity. Modern studies also explore its potential in cancer prevention and treatment, as well as reducing chemotherapy side effects.

Pets living in human environments are exposed to numerous chemicals through indoor air, contaminated water, pet food, and various household and garden products. An Environmental Working Group (EWG) study revealed that dogs are exposed to complex mixtures of synthetic industrial chemicals at levels often higher than those in humans. High levels of plasticizers, grease-proof chemicals, and fire retardants were detected, highlighting the significant health risks posed by chemical exposure.

Milk Thistle's protective properties are crucial for pets facing these environmental hazards. This is why dogs benefit from Milk Thistle.

Ingredients

Silybum marianum (St Mary’s Thistle or Milk Thistle)

Each 1 mL contains 1,000 mg of dried herb equivalent

Free from alcohol, glycerine, artificial flavours & sweeteners

Each manufacturing company has their own unique processing techniques that can result in the final product being a different colour or viscosity. This difference in appearance in no way reduces the quality, strength or efficacy of the product.

How to Use & Storage

DOSAGE GUIDELINES	SERVINGS PER 100 ML BOTTLE
Small dogs < 15 kg 5-10 drops once or twice daily in food (0.25 – 0.5 mL once or twice daily)	From 100 to 400 days
Medium dogs 15 - 30 kg 10-20 drops once or twice daily in food (0.5 – 1.0 mL once or twice daily)	From 50 to 200 days
Large dogs > 30 kg 20-30 drops once or twice daily in food (1.0 – 1.5 mL once or twice daily)	From 33 to 100 days

Note: 20 drops = 1 mL


CAT DOSING
Pure Milk Thistle is also suitable for cats.
As a general guide, give 5 drops once or twice daily in food.

Because cats can be challenging when it comes to supplements, always start with a smaller amount than recommended and build up gradually to the full dose. This will help with taste compliance; some cats may also respond well to a lower dose than stated.

Storage

Store below 30 C in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Use within 12 months of opening
Keep out of reach of children.

Warnings & Contraindications

Milk Thistle is considered safe and well tolerated when taken within the recommended dose range.
Studies have found no adverse effects when used during pregnancy, however, always consult your veterinarian in such situations.
Contraindicated in dogs with known allergy to the Asteraceae (daisy) family.
